Finally got the time to photograph the studio art I did last semester for Drawing class and Painting class. The camera kind of washed out some of the contrast and color, but not as bad as a scanner would. It annoyed me, however, that all my works came out crooked; I had to crop off what at least to me felt like important parts of the picture to make it rectangular instead of a cross between an oval and a trapezoid.

Not my best painting; but the concept is GORGEOUS! <3 This was our fourth project in Painting class: our Tempera Painting. We had to piece together parts of different historical buildings in town into our own made-up building, then paint everything but the black spaces in tempera paint. We then covered the entire painting in black ink and hosed it down. Ink slides off tempera, so wherever there wasn't any (or enough, unfortunately) paint, ink was left behind.

Of course, like with my Self-Portrait and Blind Contour Drawings, everybody else did boring stuff. XP Good, but boring; like ordinary houses and stuff. Well I couldn't settle for ordinary, so I built a tower, reaching into the heavens and d****ing all those in its shadow.

If you look carefully, there are several allusions to Gaia and/or Life in this picture. I'll point out a few:
- if you connect the clouds to the sides of the bottom of the structure, you get Gaia's symbol (the top of the symbol is right above the wings)
- The planet pictured above is Uranus, of which Gaia is based on
- The stained glass is in reference to the Gaia Sanctuary, particularly how it depicts both living and dead trees
- The building on top makes a sort of halo; together with the wings it forms an angel

There's several others, so look for them. ;p

Unfortunately, tempera paint is not my forte; I didn't paint the whites well enough, and so the middle of the tower is missing some bars. Also, the tower doesn't contrast enough from the sky. :( Oh well, can't win them all.

The camera did strange things to the ink. @_@
