Name comes from a combination of their catchphrases: Doopliss' "It's my 'Me' Time" and Mimi's "Mimimimimimimimi!"

OH MY FREAKIN' GOSH. Ever tried listening to "Forze del Male" while fighting Doopliss or Mimi? (Forze del Male is that super duper epic organ music that plays while you fight Riku in Hollow Bastion in Kingdom Hearts) It makes these two SO TOTALLY EPIC. I have yet to try it... But I'm listening to it right now and seriously, it makes these two bosses seem really epic. So I dare you, next time you fight Doopliss or Mimi, be sure to listen to Forze del Male. :) IT FITS.

Okay, so anyway, this is a picture of two of my favorite Paper Mario villains: Doopliss and Mimi. :) For those of you who don't know them, here's a brief intro. Doopliss is the Demon of the Creepy Steeple, an old bell tower near Twilight Town. Frequently mistakenly referred to as a "walking freak with a sheet on his head" by characters in the game, Doopliss is a shapeshifting demon who possesses a sheet--he is of the Duplighost species from the previous game, but more powerful. When he turns into you, he doesn't just turn into you; he steals your entire identity, reducing you to a shadow! Doopliss also has the ability to turn people into pigs at the sound of the Steeple bell. Despite his powers, Doopliss has a very childish, prankster demeanor. He frequently enjoys being by himself ("Me" Time), and went as far as to lock his pet parrot in the Steeple basement. Doopliss is the boss of Chapter 4 from Paper Mario 2.

Mimi is a shape-shifting creature implied in the game as possibly being a Pixl-gone-bad. Though she typically takes the form of a short young lady (possibly between 14 and 22, I'd say), her true identity is that of a twisted spider creature. Mimi works for Count Bleck and battles Mario and his party on multiple occasions during the game. The first and third times she dons her true form, but during the second (during which she is merely stalling for time) she remains in the form of a Japanese girl that can fly in the air. Mimi's first and most major appearance is when she takes over Merlee's Mansion, but she later appears in Sammer's Kingdom and Castle Bleck. She's the boss of Chapter 2, and is a mini-boss in Chapters 6 and 8, all of which are in Super Paper Mario.

OKAY! So, this monster of a picture took me about eight or nine hours over the span of three days. *phew* Part of the last three hours was spent from completely redoing Doopliss after having almost completely shaded him; as it turned out, I was missing a lot of details. So this new version of him is fixed, though in a different pose. The purple Mario over there is "Shadow" Mario, the form Doopliss takes before he steals Mario's identity. Mario then takes on the "Shadow" Mario form until he can defeat Doopliss a second time.

I did Mimi first, 'cuz I liked the pastel colors. XP The one on the right is Mimi in her most common form (though with a fan from her Sammer's Kingdom outfit), with the red gems she uses as weapons floating around her. To her left is her true form as is appears when you fight her in Merlee's Mansion (hence the maid outfit). Because Mimi is incredibly geometric in Super Paper Mario, I decided to give her a more realistic look. :) I think it turned out really well. I did the same for Doopliss, but Paper Mario 2 isn't as rectangle-focused as Super Paper Mario is.

Oh, and in the background up top is the cursed bell of the Creepy Steeple, as well as the moon (complete with the X-Naut Base from Paper Mario 2). And on the bottom is the Void as it appears in Sammer's Kingdom. Mimi stalls Mario and the gang, giving the Void enough time to blow up the universe in that dimension.

So YEAH. Took a long time, but I'm really happy with the results. Really happy. :) At least in Mimi's case.

Paper Mario characters are so underrated. I wish they'd appear in more spin-offs. :(

I'm posting the old version of the Doopliss picture in my scraps if you care to see it. The shading's better. ;p

Oh, and the background colors are thematic. Merlee's Mansion is encountered during the evening, and the Creepy Steeple lies in the nighttime area of the Twilight Forest. And the red behind Doopliss is supposed to represent the red Crystal Star he possesses.

Oh, and I used a few deviant-made brushes.
